Compact USB WiFi Adapter for Windows PCs

The Plugable USB-WIFINT adds 802.11n (Wi-Fi 4) wireless network connectivity to desktop computers and laptops at speeds up to 150Mbps. This compact USB adapter provides a reliable solution for upgrading older computers without built-in WiFi or replacing broken wireless cards.

Windows Driver Support

Compatible with Windows 11, 10, 8.x, and 7 operating systems. The adapter uses the Realtek RTL8188EUS chipset and automatically installs on Windows 10 and 8.x systems with an active network connection. Drivers are built into Windows 11, while separate driver downloads are available for other supported Windows versions. Not compatible with Windows RT.

2.4GHz Wireless Connectivity

This adapter connects exclusively to 2.4GHz wireless access points, providing better range than 5GHz alternatives. Compliant with the Wi-Fi Alliance's Wi-Fi 4 specification, it establishes link rates up to 150Mbps. The adapter is backwards compatible with Wireless G/B networks and supports both Ad-hoc and Infrastructure modes. Note that Windows 11, 10, and 8.x do not support creating hotspots (Ad-hoc networks) using wireless adapters.

Compact Design and USB Compatibility

The nano-sized design fits snugly against your laptop or desktop PC, minimizing the risk of breakage while staying out of the way of other peripherals. An unobtrusive red LED indicates wireless activity. The adapter is backwards compatible with USB 1.1 ports and works with standard USB 2.0 connections.

Optimizing WiFi Performance

For optimal performance in less populated areas, configure your access point to use 40MHz channel widths instead of 20MHz. In dense urban environments, 20MHz channel widths may provide better stability against radio interference. For best results, plug the adapter into front USB ports on tower PCs, use USB 2.0 ports rather than USB 3.0, and maintain a clear line-of-sight between the adapter and router to minimize 2.4GHz wireless interference.
