DrayTek VigorAP 805 Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Access Point

The VigorAP 805 delivers high-performance wireless connectivity with AX3000 dual-band technology and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet capability. This Wi-Fi 6 mesh access point provides up to 3Gbps combined wireless throughput, while the secondary Gigabit Ethernet port functions as a mini switch for connecting additional devices like computers or printers.

Wi-Fi 6 Technology for Enhanced Performance

Built on the 802.11ax standard, the VigorAP 805 utilizes OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) and Multi-User MIMO to efficiently manage multiple simultaneous connections. The access point supports up to 16 SSIDs total (8 per band), making it suitable for environments requiring separate internal and guest networks.

BSS Colouring technology reduces interference from neighboring networks by adding unique identifiers to transmissions, allowing Wi-Fi 6 clients to distinguish between networks and ignore distant conflicting signals. This results in improved performance in dense wireless environments.

Dual-Band Coverage and Connectivity

Unlike previous Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) which only enhanced the 5GHz band, Wi-Fi 6 brings performance improvements to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. This provides better range and wall penetration at 2.4GHz while maintaining high-speed capabilities on 5GHz.

The primary Ethernet port supports 2.5 Gigabit throughput, ideal for connecting to compatible routers like the Vigor 2136. The additional 1 Gigabit port enables daisy-chain configurations or direct wired connections to local devices. In Mesh and Range Extender modes, the wireless uplink bridges to LAN ports without requiring additional switches or cable runs.

Security and Design

WPA3 Personal and Enterprise security protocols provide enhanced protection for wireless networks. The compact desk form factor features hidden dual-band antennas, making the unit unobtrusive in offices, meeting rooms, and SOHO environments. Status indicator LEDs can be disabled or scheduled to prevent unwanted lighting.

Deployment is straightforward—connect to power and link via Ethernet or wireless mesh. The VigorAP 805 includes a DC power adapter and operates without requiring PoE infrastructure.
